Len Deptula - Drums / Lead & Backup VocalsLen is a self-taught drummer who began playing drums in the 5th Grade. His love for music started early in his life, due to his family members listening to a variety of styles -from the Doobie Brothers and Led Zeppelin to Michael Jackson and the Beegees.
Len’s listening selections took a dramatic change in the 80’s. The Police, Genesis, Journey, Rush, Van Halen and Triumph became some of his biggest drum and vocal influences. On a lighter side, he also enjoyed listening to bands such as Hall and Oats, the Cars, Huey Lewis and Bryan Adams as well as MANY others...(Yes, even Kajagoogoo)
He has been in funk bands, orchestras, pit bands (for musicals), marching bands, symphonic bands and choirs as well various rock and roll bands over the years. In Len’s last project, he was the lead singer / frontman for a band called “Dawn Patrol,” an 80’s tribute band. Today, he remains a key player for “Backstage Pass” with his strong vocal ability and “hard-hitting” drumming style.
Len has a Music Performance degree from Columbia College (Chicago), a Music Education degree from Roosevelt University (Chicago), and a Masters of Administration degree from Concordia University (River Forest). He is currently a K-5 music teacher in Arlington Heights and loves to work with kids.
Lastly, if you enjoy listening to live drum solos, he inevitably provides one at every show. LONG LIVE THE COWBELL!!!!!
